Linux (Ubuntu) beginner here. I am on a Mac (Intel i9, 2020, 10 Core) and really want to play Freeciv. I have setup a Virtual Machine with UTM on macOS 12, installed Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop Client on it and it runs fine. Then I downloaded the Freeciv appimage for Linux from the website freeciv.org.
PROBLEM:
I cannot open (run) the downloaded appimage of Freeciv in my Virtual Machine.
I then googled and viewed many Youtube videos. The solutions there proposed, to update Ubuntu in the terminal, change the property of the appimage to "Executable as a program" and then enter "sudo apt install libfuse2t64" (which is neccessary for Ubuntu 24.04) in the Ubuntu terminal. The update went fine, but it changed nothing:
The appimage still does not open.
Any hints?
Is it maybe not possible to open an appimage on a virtual machine (VM)? I am a total Linux / Ubuntu newbie, so I apologize already for my ignorance. Thank you!
